The Lower Mattagami River Project is an investment into clean, renewable energy. It is the largest hydroelectric power generation initiative in nearly 40 years in Northern Ontario. Ontario Power Generation (OPG) selected Kiewit-Alarie, a Partnership (KAP) to administer the design-build project on the Mattagami River
Working in a limited space with a five-week outage duration, the Kiewit team engineered, procured, constructed and performed startup of the air quality control system to tie it into Brayton Point’s Unit 3 at New England’s largest fossil fuel-fired power station.
The Antelope Station Grid Switching Expansion Project will allow an existing generating station to switch between the SPP and ERCOT grid systems. Kiewit Engineering and Design is designing the switch to a grid configuration consisting of a single-breaker, double-bus.
The Kiewit team was awarded the contract to design and install the Ghent Coal Combustion Residuals (CCR) Transport Project. Upon completion, it will condition, dewater and transport CCR from the four coal-fired boilers to a remote landfill storage. The project includes the installation of a pneumatic system for conveying fly ash, including fly ash storage silos, gypsum dewatering facility and bottom ash dewatering facility. The ash handling project incorporates a 1.8-mile overland pipe conveyor for transporting the dewatered CCR to a landfill.
The Woodbridge Energy Center (WEC) is a 700-megawatt gas-fired power plant located on the site of an abandoned chemical plant. It will generate enough electricity to power more than 600,000 homes while increasing grid reliability. In an effort to stay eco-friendly, as well as cutting edge, the facility will use the most advanced generation technology today and, when complete, WEC will be one of the nation’s cleanest and most efficient generation stations.?
Mass. Electric Construction Co (MEC), partnered with Cypress Creek Renewables (CCR) to construct a 97 ME Solar Farm in Forest City, North Carolina.
